
The Agricultural Extension and Communication (PKP) Study Program, Universitas Gadjah Mada, successfully held the 7th biannual exhibition called the 2020 “Kapitu” Exhibition, with a series of events from September 28 to November 14, 2020. This event aims to introduce the Study Program to a broad audience, especially high school students. This time, Kapitu presents a new and different appearance from the previous one because it is held online and streamed through social media platforms.
This year, Kapitu Exhibition carries the theme “Zenemic: Z Generation Nandur di Tengah Pandemik” held from September 28 to October 22, 2020. The selection of this theme aims to increase the younger generation’s knowledge about farming activities during the COVID-19 pandemic and enrich students’ insights regarding agricultural activities amid the pandemic. The series of events on the Kapitu Exhibition consists of competitions, an exhibition of the PKP lab practicum results, and a talk show. The competition consisted of photography, essays, podcasts, and TikTok, which was attended by hundreds of high school students from all over Indonesia.
The exhibition for the PKP Study Program practicum results is held online by utilizing the Artstep website platform, Instagram @prodipkp.ugm, Youtube Agricia Channel, and Spotify Agricia Channel. The practicum results displayed in the exhibition include practicum results on the basics of agricultural extension and communication, broadcast management, audio-video, agricultural journalism, advertising, and practicum for photography. The exhibition was held from November 6 to 14, 2020. Meanwhile, the mini talk show was held on November 8, 10, and 12, entitled “Bincang Santuy Kapitu,” presenting practicum attendees who shared their gained knowledge during practicum.
The event’s peak and the competition winner announcement was the Kapitu Talkshow on November 14, 2020, which presented speakers from Kebun Kumara and Infarm.Id. The talk show was attended by nearly 200 participants from around places in Indonesia. The current event theme brought the talk show topic to urban farming with the resource person engaged in permaculture (Kebun Kumara) and who is engaged in hydroponics (Infarm.Id). Both systems are urban farming techniques closely related to generation Z, especially in today’s city settings. The competition winners are announced at the end of the talkshow and continued with congratulations and testimonies by acting Head of the DIY Agriculture and Food Security Service, Mrs. Ir. Syam Arjayanti, M.P.A.
